The owner of Sound Line Design recently remodeled his home. He outfitted the house with a complete surveillance and home theater demo system. The house showcases an automated home with excellent audio, video, surveillance and security.
Whole-House Pre-Wiring
This house was getting a little more than a normal re-model. As a result, the crew at Sound Line Design was able to pre-wire the house while the walls had no drywall. This makes running the wires easier, and lets the organization of the wiring be neater. Pre-wiring is a service offered by Sound Line Design for clients who are building new homes, or doing extreme re-models. Once the drywall is in, the team comes back and adds the applicable wall plates for the cables.
Multi-Room Video
Every living space in this house was planned for having a television. The result was the team mounting many flat-panel monitors in the bedrooms. The living room got a much larger monitor, so that it is visible not only in the living room, but also the kitchen. The theater room in this house got something special. A Sony projector was used to display its output on a large Dragonfly screen.
Multi-Room Audio
The whole house is able to listen to audio, thanks to the distributed audio system. The rooms have the ability to all play the same audio, or independently select different sources. Every room sounds great, thanks to the Episode speakers, used throughout the house. If the party moves outside, the house also features external speakers. The outside speakers are on the same distributed audio system, so they can play independently or with the currently playing audio.
Home Automation
A growing category is home automation. To show off the abilities of an automated home, a Control4 system was installed. The Control4 system gives the homeowner complete control over the lighting, audio, video and security in the home. Though not installed in this home, Control4 also gives the option of controlling motorized drapes and curtains. Command of the Control4 system is through wireless remotes and also a statically mounted iPad. The iPad provides easy, touch screen, control of the entire house.
Surveillance and Security
To protect the equipment in this house security and surveillance systems were added. The security system consists of door and window sensors as well as strategically placed motion sensors. The system also integrates with electronic locks on the doors.
Keeping an eye on the house and property is easy thanks to the 19 different cameras that are installed in various locations. The camera systems allows not only digital recording of the cameras, but also remote viewing via smartphone app.
Strong Equipment Rack Holds The Electronics
As you can imagine, a house like this with so many functions is going to have quite a few electronic control boxes. In addition to the Yamaha A/V Receiver, the house also had networking control by Araknis, automation by Control4, television service by DirectTV, a Yamaha BluRay player and a number of Internet controlled power conditioners. To keep all of these devices safe and organized, a large Strong brand equipment rack was installed into a closed in the home theater room. The Strong rack has the ability to roll outward from the closet, providing access to all of the wiring.
